The construction of more than 2.2 million square feet of new indoor and outdoor spaces that will make up The National Western Center (NWC) in Denver, CO is currently underway. This new campus is designed to host innovation and research labs, farmers markets, international conferences, outdoor festivals, and everything in between.
In partnership with the City and County of Denver, we coordinated the artist selection process for the NWC Bridges Public Art project. The selected artist David Ocelotl Garcia, a local artist born and raised in Denver, installed the first of two bridge designs entitled People’s Bridge of the Sun along the bridge at 51st Ave & National Western Drive in 2022.
Garcia is now working on his design for the second bridge entitled, People’s Bridge of the Moon. This project is the long-term culmination of Public Art Services’ work over the span of three years to develop the Public Art Master Plan for this site.
