In 2010 we worked with artist Donald Lipski to create a signature work to be located within the lobby of the new Science Building of Denver’s Auraria Campus in Colorado. Inspired by the biological sciences that are taught in this building, Lipski designed a butterfly comprised of 10,000 resin-filled glass test tubes as a nod to the equipment commonly used by scientists. Measuring 14' x 16' x 12' the butterfly constructed from steel is hung by a glass curtain wall, the piece catches the light like a stained glass window, as it slowly rotates with breezes from the HVAC. This work was engineered and fabricated in Colorado.
