For the H. Carl Moultrie Courthouse C Street Addition in Washington D.C. artist Larry Kirkland has designed two interior art integrations that greet the public as they enter. The first of which is a design integrated into the terrazzo floor of the Courthouse lobby that reads “The first duty of society is justice”, a quote by Alexander Hamilton. The second work is integrated into the West limestone wall of the two-story atrium and is composed of Bardiglio and Carrara marble with inlaid stainless steel text reading “Open to all, trusted by all, justice for all”, the D.C. Courts’ motto, framed by a stainless steel maze.
Check back for final installation images once the building addition is complete.
